Collaboration Overview
About Students

This is a practical, research-oriented course for MBA students to work on a real business problem using a "Live Case" methodology for the duration of the semester under faculty mentor(s). The primary method of instruction is project-based experiential learning as students collaborate in a hands-on engagement (i.e. ìinternshipî) to address business problems with a functioning, off-campus "Host Company" in the marketplace. Students will conduct independent and collaborative research as part of a Student Consulting Team to address the business problem(s) presented to them by the Host Company to develop real solutions to real-world challenges. This engagement format directly relates to key learning objectives of the course. The research process may include original data gathering (interviews, participant observations, survey methodologies, quantitative/empirical methods, etc.) or primary/secondary source content analysis working both individually and collaboratively as part of the Student Consulting Team. The required deliverable(s) for each Student Consulting Teamís business problem(s) will be unique to each engagement; examples of such deliverables may be writing a business plan for a start-up, developing a marketing strategy for a new product at an established company, or conducting a market landscape survey. Each Student Consulting Team will research, prepare, and present oral presentations to complement their written deliverable(s). Students have a great deal of freedom in deciding how to approach their respective assigned business problem(s), their research approach, and how to best present their analyses to the Host Company.
