| About Students |
This is a practical, research-oriented course for MBA students to work on a real business problem using a "Live Case" methodology for the duration of the semester under faculty mentor(s). The primary method of instruction is project-based experiential learning as students collaborate in a hands-on engagement (i.e. internship) to address business problems with a functioning, off-campus "Host Company" in the marketplace. This engagement format directly relates to key learning objectives of the course. The required deliverable(s) for each Student Consulting Teams business problem(s) will be unique to each engagement; examples of such deliverables may be writing a business plan for a start-up, developing a marketing strategy for a new product at an established company, or conducting a market landscape survey. Students have a great deal of freedom in deciding how to approach their respective assigned business problem(s), their research approach, and how to best present their analyses to the Host Company.
Student Level: Student Time Commitment: Full Time Team Structure: - |
|
| Program Goals | Students will conduct independent and collaborative research as part of a Student Consulting Team to address the business problem(s) presented to them by the Host Company to develop real solutions to real-world challenges.
The research process may include original data gathering (interviews, participant observations, survey methodologies, quantitative/empirical methods, etc.) or primary/secondary source content analysis working both individually and collaboratively as part of the Student Consulting Team. Each Student Consulting Team will research, prepare, and present oral presentations to complement their written deliverable(s). |

| Project Title | Ed Tech Dilemma – Marketing Analysis |
| Project Synopsis |
What is the challenge or opportunity you are trying to address within your organization? Identify and evaluate opportunities and make recommendations for business expansion within the industry.
What are some of the activities or action items you think will need to be taken to achieve your desired results? Growth Strategy: • Examine the company’s growth plan. How can the business be best positioned for success? What are the greatest opportunities and/or challenges? Take into account their growth plan and existing traction. • When preparing for the future of the business, what are some key concerns and areas of focus the host company should address? • How is the company’s brand perceived by customers? • From a product and service perspective, how well does the company meet customer needs? Are their customers satisfied with their purchases? Sales and Business Development: • Prepare a comprehensive list of industry stakeholders and competitors that offer similar products and/or services. Make comparisons between your host company and its competitors in the following areas: pricing, features, services, regionality, customer demographics, etc. • How does the company’s pricing compare to competitors? Would you modify the pricing structure? If so, how? • Are there alternative ways to sell that the company hasn’t considered? Would they be more effective? What data do you have to support your reasoning? • When it comes to the sales plan, how would you prioritize the sales team’s time and resources? • Rather than providing financial aid, the company finances its own programs with an average payment of about $200 per month (non-deferred). What would make this project a success for your organization? What measurable results are you looking to accomplish? How might we promote the affordability of this program to offset the non-deferred student loan financing program?
We would consider this project a success if provided clear, supported ideas to increase enrollments. We are looking to grow our enrollments by over 300% |
