About National Bleeding Disorders Foundation, CO Chapter
The Colorado Chapter of the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation (NBDF Colorado) is responsible for addressing the challenges bleeding disorder patients and their families face through education, advocacy, and empowerment. Based on detailed disaggregated analytics of our contact database and HTC patient (nonidentifying) mapping, there are more than 1,800 individuals with documented bleeding disorders living in Colorado.
The entire family is affected by the bleeding disorder physically, emotionally, and financially. Serving the state since 1974, NBDF Colorado provides programs and services to people affected by bleeding disorders so that they can better cope and can become self-advocates for themselves and/or their family. Our vision is to create an environment where those affected by bleeding disorders feel like part of a community, part of the solution, and empowered in their daily lives through connection with others who can relate to them and their challenges.
The Chapter is active in engaging community members in a variety of environments with primary goals of providing social support and networking, training and education, and in advancing legislative priorities: holding 28 events featuring 1,367 community member registrations this past year. By comparison, this represents a 21% increase from 2023 and a 50% increase from 2022. When December financials are fully reconciled next month, we expect to add more than 150 additional community members served via financial assistance across all forms, bringing our cumulative total of members served to over 1,500.
