Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity
ICARE Coalition is dedicated to supporting immigrant children and youth by coordinating a network of legal service providers that offer free immigration legal representation and supportive services. While the coalition excels in delivering these services, it faces challenges in understanding the number of youth in need of immigration legal services and cost modeling. The coalition requires a strategic blueprint to enhance its advocacy efforts, equitable resource allocation, and long-term policy solutions.

The current challenge lies in the lack of a comprehensive assessment of the legal and social service needs of immigrant youth in NYC. This gap limits the coalition's ability to effectively advocate for necessary funding and support, potentially impacting the delivery of crucial services. The project presents an opportunity for students to address this challenge by conducting in-depth research and analysis, contributing to a data-informed and community-driven strategic blueprint.

The project consists of several phases, including research and evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and comparative analysis of policy models. Each phase offers students the chance to apply their skills in policy evaluation, financial modeling, stakeholder engagement, and impact measurement. Through this project, students will gain valuable experience in consulting, research, advocacy, and policy change, making it relevant and exciting for their future careers.

This project is meaningful for students as it connects strategic challenges to real-world skills, providing a platform for them to contribute to social change while gaining practical experience in key areas such as research, financial planning, and stakeholder analysis. The opportunity to work with ICARE  allows students to make a tangible impact on the lives of immigrant youth and families in New York City.
