Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity
PBP faces two related challenges we would like to address:
  • The first is a gap in understanding of how to set financial goals for the organization that will lead to the sustainable implementation of our organizational development goals.
  • The second is a challenge in setting prices for our products and services that allow us to both be financially sustainable and to partner with clients for whom cost represents a barrier.

Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required
  • Deep dive into PBP’s organizational structure and values, which guide our work.
  • Determine revenue generation needs based on an analysis of our financial statements as well as goals, such as the implementation of a new compensation philosophy, model of service delivery, and fundraising strategy.
  • Develop a method of calculating the cost of program and service delivery.
  • Research services offered by organizations similar to PBP, their costs, and their clients’ ability to afford them.
  • Creation of a sliding scale pricing model for PBP’s products and services that can be easily adapted as we launch new products and services.

Project Synopsis: Expected Results
  • This project would be a success if, at the end of our time together, we had:
    • A sliding scale pricing model that could be shared with our potential clients. The numbers on the sliding scale would be based on our financial needs as well as different types of clients’ ability to pay. For example, we work with government agencies as well as small grassroots organizations, and so would need a set of documents that can be used to communicate how much our services will cost to each client based on their budget and ability to pay. This sliding scale would be easily adapted to all or most of our products and services.
    • A set of financial goals that corresponded with our organizational development goals. For example, we have a goal of implementing a new compensation model, but do not know how much it will cost to implement the model sustainably over the next few years. After this project, we would have a strong sense of the financial requirements for the implementation of this model.
