Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity
Hioki EE. Corporation, a global leader in electrical manufacturing since 1935, has long maintained a commitment to environmental and social responsibility. As the company continues to evolve, it is looking to embed its sustainability philosophy into its digital transformation initiatives, ensuring that investments in IT infrastructure and services also deliver measurable value in support of the company’s broader ESG goals.

This project challenges a team of graduate students to support the development of a digital strategy framework and dashboard prototype that will enable Hioki to track, visualize, and communicate the business and sustainability value of a selected IT service. The resulting deliverables will provide the foundation for expanding the strategy across other services and departments.
Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required
  1. Conduct interviews or discovery research to understand Hioki’s digital transformation and sustainability priorities.
  2. Select a representative IT service (e.g., cloud migration, paperless workflows, smart metering) to be the focus of the pilot dashboard
  3. Identify relevant KPIs that capture the business, operational, and environmental impact of the selected service
  4. Design a digital dashboard framework that consolidates these metrics in a usable and intuitive interface.
  5. Develop a roadmap for how dashboard insights can be used to increase buy-in, track progress, and expand the framework to other IT initiatives.
  6. Provide recommendations for building a long-term IT business value communication strategy.
Project Synopsis: Expected Results
  • Creation of a high-impact, user-friendly dashboard prototype for the selected IT service.

  • Identification of KPIs that align with business performance and sustainability outcomes.

  • Strategic roadmap for integrating IT performance tracking into sustainability and transformation strategy.

  • Positive feedback from internal stakeholders on the framework’s clarity and utility.

  • Clear recommendations for organizational buy-in and future scalability.
