Background & Objective

The challenge or opportunity you are trying to address for the organization.

The Tribeca Macadamia Nut Project is a macadamia nut farm located in state of Rio in Brazil. We are pleased to introduce our new product, Tribeca Macadamia Nut Milk, which is a dairy-free alternative milk made from high-quality macadamia nuts grown on our farm. We are looking to enter the US market and sell our product in Whole Foods stores. Our Tribeca Macadamia Nut Milk is a delicious, creamy, and nutritious alternative to dairy milk. It is rich in healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals, and is low in calories and carbohydrates.

Learning Objectives

This is what students will learn as they complete the case.

In this case, students will step into the role of a consultant supporting an international food producer entering the U.S. retail market through Whole Foods. They will develop a comprehensive implementation plan that bridges strategy and execution, requiring them to think across supply chain, distribution, marketing, and stakeholder coordination. The case emphasizes real-world decision-making under operational constraints, helping students build skills in launching a consumer product within a highly selective retail environment.
  •  Analyze a company’s readiness to enter a new geographic market and premium retail channel
  •  Evaluate distribution strategies, including the role of intermediaries such as UNFI and KeHE in accessing major retailers
  •  Design an end-to-end implementation plan that aligns supply chain, operations, and go-to-market strategy
  •  Assess key stakeholders and define their roles in executing a cross-border product launch
  •  Develop resource allocation plans, including people, partnerships, and infrastructure required for execution
  •  Identify potential operational and strategic risks and propose mitigation strategies
  •  Define and apply key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure launch success and ongoing performance
  •  Recommend communication strategies to align internal teams and external partners during implementation
