Launching in fall 2020 with a pilot program of 16 schools, 16 sponsors, and four broadcasters, PostGame Recap plans to grow 10x by Spring 2023 and 30x by Fall 2023.

This case challenges students to design a scalable growth strategy for a media startup by aligning audience insights, sponsorship strategy, and multi-sided marketplace expansion. 

Students completing this case will be able to: 

  • Understand PostGame Recap’s business model, including its multi-sided ecosystem of teams, sponsors, and student broadcasters. 
  • Analyze the target audience (listeners, schools, sponsors) and their needs, behaviors, and motivations. 
  • Identify ideal sponsor profiles based on audience demographics, interests, and local market dynamics. 
  • Evaluate competitive offerings in sports media and podcasting to determine differentiation opportunities. 
  • Develop customer personas for listeners, sponsors, and school stakeholders to guide targeted growth strategies. 
  • Design effective sponsorship acquisition strategies, including messaging, outreach channels, and partnership models. 
  • Assess best practices for engaging high school coaches and athletic directors to drive adoption of the platform. 
  • Create recruitment strategies and pipelines for sourcing and retaining student broadcasters and interns. 
  • Propose integrated marketing and communication plans to support rapid, scalable expansion. 
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure growth across schools, sponsors, and content contributors.
