This case challenges students to redesign an organization’s HR framework to align with legal standards, organizational values, and employee needs in a mission-driven environment. It emphasizes the intersection of compliance, culture, and talent management, requiring students to balance risk mitigation with employee experience. Students will develop practical experience in policy design, benchmarking, and implementation planning while producing a professional-grade HR manual. The work reflects real-world HR and operations consulting, where effective policies must be both compliant and culturally resonant. 

  •  Analyze existing HR policies to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and risks related to compliance and employee experience 
  •  Evaluate nonprofit HR best practices and legal requirements to inform policy updates and organizational alignment 
  •  Assess employee and leadership feedback to identify priorities related to culture, equity, and workplace expectations 
  •  Design a comprehensive, people-first HR manual that integrates compliance, DEI principles, and employee development 
  •  Develop a clear and accessible policy structure that supports usability, transparency, and consistent adoption 
  •  Assess trade-offs between legal risk mitigation and fostering a flexible, supportive workplace culture 
  •  Design a training and communication strategy to ensure effective rollout and adoption of updated HR policies 
  •  Develop an evaluation and feedback framework to monitor policy effectiveness and support continuous improvement
