I am currently an investor with Lockheed Martin Ventures - the VC arm of Lockheed Martin. My focus in on the semiconductor, manufacturing, and propulsion industries. Previous to this role, I was an aerodynamics engineer for the corporation conducting systems integration activities and new platform designs. My educational experience in these roles stem from an undergraduate degree from Penn State and 2 masters degrees from the University of Florida. In my "spare time" I like to be outdoors and moving - playing sports, hiking, working out, etc.

Background & Objective

The challenge or opportunity you are trying to address for the organization.

GLANCE is a led ticker designed to show you your data how you want it. The company asks you to help create a better UX design for its web application. The final goal is to increase the usability of their app by simplifying and tailoring its design. Propose strategies and ideas for the most effective methods to achieve that goal. About GLANCE: “Our team first met in undergrad and has since worked together as engineers and consultants in the tech space.

Learning Objectives

This is what students will learn as they complete the case.

In today’s data-driven environment, user experience (UX) is a critical differentiator for digital products—especially in finance tools where clarity, speed, and usability directly impact user engagement. In this case, students act as UX strategists and product designers tasked with improving the information architecture and usability of GLANCE’s web application. By combining user research, interface design, and iterative testing, students will develop a streamlined, user-centered experience tailored to investor needs.
Students completing this case will be able to:
  • Analyze user needs, behaviors, and pain points through qualitative and quantitative user research methods (e.g., interviews, surveys, usability observations).
  • Define clear user personas that represent GLANCE’s target audience, including their goals, motivations, and frustrations when interacting with financial data.
  • Evaluate the current UX of a web application through a structured UX audit, identifying usability issues, inefficiencies, and areas of friction.
  • Design an improved information architecture that organizes content and features logically, reducing cognitive load and improving navigation.
  • Apply UX/UI design principles such as simplicity, hierarchy, consistency, and accessibility to enhance usability and visual clarity.
  • Develop user flows, wireframes, and prototypes (low- and high-fidelity) that align with user needs and business objectives.
  • Compare competitor platforms to identify best practices and differentiation opportunities in financial data visualization and user experience.
  • Test prototypes with users to gather actionable feedback and measure usability improvements (e.g., task completion rate, time on task, user satisfaction).
  • Iterate on designs based on user feedback, demonstrating an understanding of continuous improvement in product development.
  • Propose a practical implementation strategy for integrating the redesigned UX into the existing system, considering technical constraints, data models, and change management.
  • Synthesize research, design decisions, and testing insights into a cohesive UX strategy that enhances usability, engagement, and product value.
