Background & Objective

The challenge or opportunity you are trying to address for the organization.

Repair the World offers a year-long fellowship program for young professionals who partner with nonprofits addressing critical social justice issues.

Learning Objectives

This is what students will learn as they complete the case.

Nonprofit organizations increasingly rely on engaged alumni networks to extend their impact, strengthen community ties, and support long-term mission sustainability. In this case, students take on the role of strategic advisors to design an alumni engagement strategy for a social impact fellowship program. Through a combination of research, data modeling, and strategic design, students will develop a structured approach to understanding alumni needs and translating those insights into a scalable, mission-aligned engagement strategy.
Students completing this case will be able to:
  • Analyze the role alumni networks play in advancing mission-driven organizations, including how engagement contributes to community building, program visibility, and long-term impact.
  • Evaluate existing alumni engagement models across comparable fellowship and nonprofit programs to identify high-impact practices and strategic gaps.
  • Design a structured data collection approach—including surveys and qualitative methods—that captures alumni experiences, preferences, and long-term engagement drivers.
  • Assess how alumni career paths, motivations, and past program experiences influence their likelihood to engage with the organization over time.
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights to identify key themes, segmentation opportunities, and engagement patterns within the alumni base.
  • Prioritize strategic initiatives, programming, and communication channels that align alumni interests with organizational goals and resource constraints.
  • Develop a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy that outlines clear pathways for ongoing involvement, community building, and mission amplification.
  • Recommend actionable, scalable approaches for leveraging alumni as advocates, contributors, and partners in advancing Repair the World’s long-term impact.
